When it comes to Iran, the first question that pops up for many travelers is, “Is it safe?”
Of course it is! Often times, it’s easy to buy into the media image and confuse Iran for a dangerous country, but the absolutely most important thing to remember is: It’s not.
Iran is one of the safest countries in the world, and you can trust us when we tell you this because your safety is of utmost importance to us. We would never suggest traveling somewhere that would be of harm to you.
That being said, the most shocking thing for travelers is how completely different their expectations are from reality. Anthony Bourdain had a rather surprising experience while filming in Iran, saying “The Iran we know and deal with on a national level…is so different from what it’s like to walk around in Tehran once you’re inside the country.”
Bourdain also added, “We’ve seldom been treated with such overwhelming generosity, hospitality, and kindness by strangers.” Check out more of what travelers had to say about Iran here.
What surprised Anthony Bourdain about Iran
“I saw a country very different from what we perceive, what we see of it from outside… Everywhere we walked people would say
‘Where are you from’
‘Oh great! Do you like our country? Thank you for coming to Tehran! You must come to my house!’
People are… proud of their country and surprisingly, shockingly outgoing and friendly and generous.”
